In other to stem the spread of Covid-19 pandemic amongst learners and stakeholders in Primary Schools, Senator Tokunbo Abiru has donated Covid-19 safety materials to Public Primary Schools in Lagos state, the materials were donated to the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board at the Multi- Purpose Hall, Maryland, Ikeja.
The Executive Chairman LASUBEB, Hon. Wahab Alawiye - King, while receiving the materials commended the Distinguished Senator for contributing to Basic Education in the state.
He stated that the safety materials donated will not only curb the infection of the virus in schools but also reduce the spread of Covid -19 within the state.
“the best way to reduce the spread of the virus particularly in this second wave is to continue to abide by the safety guidelines” he said.
Alawiye-King urged the Senator to use every opportunity he has to push for the amendment of laws relevant to the development of Basic Education both in the federal and state level of legislation.
While handing over the safety materials, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District at the National Assembly Abuja, stated that as leaders, the state cannot afford to fail young children who are prone to infections.
He stated that it is important as political leaders to protect the vulnerable segment of the society against Covid-19 pandemic.
“It is suicidal to let down our guards at this point in time, we as Tokunbo Abiru constituency Team (TACT), are also complimenting the efforts of the government in maintaining the COVID-19 protocol” he said.
He also applauded Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for initiating the use of technology in up scaling the teachers to improve the learning outcomes in schools.
He added that his team will be intervening by providing eye-glasses to teachers within his senatorial district in other to improve their vision, after a formal eye examination.
